Book sign by Dr. Homatoon Mohajer
The book signing event for second volume of “Chanteh-e Homayoon” Based on the history and philosophy of Sufism and Gnosticism in Iran , will be held on Sunday July 8th, 2018at Cafe Caspian private room at 4:00 PM. In this event I will introduce the contents of my book and some of the stories about Molana from this book.
Due to limited number of this book, first come first serve. Also I will donate 25% of the total sales to ICF ( Iranian Cultural Foundation}. non political and non religion organization in Houston.

سخنرانی آقای دکتر همایون مهاجر | تصوف و عرفان در ایران

دکتر همایون مهاجر به رغم آنکه در ابتدا در مقاطع لیسانس و فوق لیسانس علوم اجتماعی تحصیل کرده و سپس دکترای کایروپتریک اخذ کرده بود ولی از جوانی به شعر فارسی و سپس عرفان علاقه‌مند شده و در این موضوعات زمان بسیار صرف مطالعه و پژوهش کرد. دلبستگی او به مولانا و شعرش از میانسالی رخ نمود و وی در آن راه آن اندازه ره پیمود که به مقام استادی در تدریس شعر مولانا و عرفان رسید

Persian Shadow Play by Hamid Rahmanian

Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic is a visually breathtaking cinematic shadow play for all ages, created by Hamid Rahmanian, a 2014 Guggenheim fellowship-winning filmmaker/visual artist. The play unfolds an action-packed magical tale of star-crossed lovers from the 10th-century Persian epic Shahnameh (‘The Book of Kings’), – Zaul and Rudabeh, who triumph at the end against all odds. Rahmanian’s graphics, derived from the visual tradition of the region, will be rendered as puppets, costumes, masks, scenography and digital animation, all of which will come to life in a “live animation” shadow casting technique perfected by shadow master Larry Reed on a cinema-size screen. The play also features an original score by the acclaimed musical team, Loga Ramin Torkian and Azam Ali. Feathers of Fire had its world premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2016.

Mohammed Afkhami Collection of Contemporary Iranian Art

In July, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, presents Rebel, Jester, Mystic, Poet: Contemporary Persians—The Mohammed Afkhami Collection, profiling the distinguished collection of financier and philanthropist Mohammed Afkhami. Featuring 23 Iranian-born artists across three generations, the exhibition reveals the complex histories and identities of Iranians today. These works range across a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and video. Curated by Fereshteh Daftari for the Aga Khan Museum, Toronto, with the partnership of Mohammed Afkhami and the Afkhami Foundation, the exhibition is on view in Houston from July 1 to September 24, 2017.
