The Iranian Cultural Foundation (ICF) is proud to announce a $25,000 endowment in coordination with the Hines School of Architecture at the University of Houston.  The endowment was officially announced at ICF’s annual fundraising gala, which also honored prominent Iranian Architect Houshang Seyhoun.

The endowment will be funded over the next five years through donations through the ICF.  ICF has committed to the scholarship program for the five years that the endowment is being funded at $1000 a year.  This year’s recipient was Rose Lee.  In attendance was the Dean of Hines College, Ms. Patricia Oliver.

Many have asked why the award was not given to an Iranian-American student.  There are many organizations and scholarships in the Houston area designed to support and promote Iranian-American scholarship, such as the scholarships awarded by the Society of Iranian-American Women for Education (SIAWE) and the Iranian-American Medical Association (IAMA).  The vision of the ICF/Seyhoun scholarship is to perpetuate and share the contributions of Iranians in Architecture with the rest of the world.  It is designed to encourage architectural students to be inspired by these architectural works and produce new works influenced by these styles.  This fulfills a vital part of ICF’s mission to bridge the gap of understanding between Iranian-Americans and the American community at large.
