Based on its tremendously successful screening in Los Angeles and by popular demand, Willow Films is proud to present the Houston theatrical release of the acclaimed documentary Tehran Has No More Pomegranates (Tehran Anar Nadarad). Directed by Massoud Bakhshi, Tehran Has No More Pomegranates is a post-modern feature-length documentary offering a sarcastic and comic portrait of Iran’s capital city, Tehran. Made over the span of five years, the film uses never-before-seen archival footage from the past 120 years, modern images of Tehran, and an amazing soundtrack to show the transformation of the city from a small village into a huge modern mega-city of chaos and paradox. Variety magazine called it “an imaginative and engaging history of Tehran that uses a petulant barbed humor to deliver a steady stream of irony about this drastically transformed society.”
