Pouya Alijanipour

Dr. Pouya Alijanipour is an assistant professor of Orthopedic Spine Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He earned his Medical Degree at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and worked as a general practitioner in underserved areas in Iran for 20 months. He used to be an active member of a private cultural society in Iran. Pouya did his Orthopedic residency training in Spain (2008-2013) and moved to the USA after achieving his Spanish Orthopedic Surgery board certification.

He has extensive research experience and subspecialty training in adult and pediatric spine surgery, consisting of a research fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University and a clinical fellowship in Spine Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery (New York), Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, and the University of Miami. Pouya worked as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Miami and as a Spine Surgeon at Methodist Hospitals in Merrillville, Indiana, before settling in Houston in 2021. Pouya has had several national and international presentations and has published numerous publications. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, as well as reading, sports, and traveling.
